Arnie is a 12 year old Gelderlander and I am a 30 something dressage rider and full time Pharmacy Technician! We have been very lucky in that Pro Equine have agreed to support us on our journey to Grand Prix and ultimately representing GB at a CDI.
Our Journey so far has been amazing, stressful, challenging but so exciting. Arnie came into my life when he was four and he was awful! He was terrified of everything! Our first two years I honestly didn’t really know what to do with him but we persevered and despite falling off in a prelim dressage test (in walk!!) we started to build our relationship and develop something quite special. Eight years on and he is competing at Inter1 and we are aiming for our first Inter2 and possibly a Grand Prix by the end of the year. He is a quirky character as well as being very difficult to feed. He has a very sensitive stomach and is affected by any changes in the grass and hay. I love him to go out during the day in the winter and then in summer he goes out at night; however you always know when the grass is coming through as his cheeks swell looking just like a hamster dose with cheeks full of food; plus you can’t catch him! This then makes him very uncomfortable to ride as his stomach is so gassy and he won’t ‘let go’ when I start to work him.
I was talking to a friend a while ago who recommended we try Pro Equines Colikare as it may help settle Arnie’s stomach and make him feel more comfortable. Well, we have been using it for a few weeks now and in this time Arnie has also switched to another field with a lot more grass in it and he is so much more comfortable meaning he is more settled when we start working. I have been feeding Colikare daily as I know how sensitive he is and he can become colicky when he moves fields but he has coped much better and I really feel this has helped him.
Arnie has a busy autumn coming up with the PetPlan Festival finals at PSG and Inter1 and the small tour championship qualifier so I will keep you all updated on how we get on and how Pro Equines Colikare is working over the coming months!
