Pro-Equine’s Manuka Gel formula is particularly useful for lower limb wounds in horses which are often unable to be sutured due to the location and so they are left to heal by a process that is known as secondary intention. Such wounds are predisposed to the development of excessive granulation tissue and prolonged wound healing because of greater wound retraction.

It can take a frustrating amount of time and energy to ensure some horse wounds—especially those in challenging locations – heal. The aim of applying topical products to wounds left to heal by secondary intention is to manipulate the wound environment and provide a clean moist area perfect for optimum recovery, reducing bacterial count and excessive skin tissue retraction.
