Neem Oil pure and cold-pressed

Neem Oil is, quite simply, one of nature’s marvels and has a multitude of uses. It has been widely used by humans for hundreds, if not, thousands of years. Neem oil is widely used in personal care products, including cosmetics and hair care products, such as shampoos and conditioners. The moisturising and nutrient-dense nature of neem makes it ideal for optimising hair health for humans and horses alike!

Neem oil provides moisture to the skin, enhances the elasticity of the skin and encourages the growth of healthy new cells. Neem oil is rich in essential fatty acids which help it remove impurities, tighten pores and promote collagen growth – hence its use on wrinkles! For horse owners it’s more important that it stimulates hair regrowth – so is ideal for rug rubs.

The science is that neem oil is rich in nimbidin and has strong antioxidant properties that neutralize free radicals. Packed with vitamin E and many essential amino acids, the result is an excellent moisturiser and skin conditioner.  Its collagen properties help smooth the skin, encourage healthy, new skin, reduce scar tissue and encourage rapid hair regrowth.

For horses that rub and scratch away parts of their mane, tail and even their coat, Neem Oil is ideal. It can be applied neat or diluted to itchy and rubbed areas, and to broken skin and minor wounds.

Neem can be diluted (to make a rinse solution or spray) by adding a small amount of a mild detergent or any of our shampoos, such as our Natural or Neem Shampoo, along with water. A dilution of at least 1 part Neem to 20 parts water is recommended. It is also fine to use Neem even when the sun is shining!

Neem Oil can be applied onto your horse’s legs, particularly white socks, during the muddy, winter months. It will soften and remove scabs, tackle itching and encourage hair re-growth. The oil and debris should be wiped off with a clean, dry cloth at regular intervals.

Please note our Neem Oil is 100% cold-pressed oil with no additives or preservatives so it will solidify at lower temperatures. We recommend that during winter you decant the oil into a smaller, microwavable container, or a container that can be stood in hot water to re-liquify the oil.
